The African Grantmakers Network invites you to the Third Biennial Assembly to be held in Accra, Ghana on 17th - 19th November 2014 and hosted by the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF). 

Join the conversation with thought leaders in philanthropy and participate in action - oriented sessions on strategies to contribute and sustain the growth of African economies through philanthropy development. 

This year's theme is “ Philanthropy in Africa 2014 – People, Policies and Practice ”. 

A two day pre-conference Arts and Culture Festival themed " AfriFEST " will be held on 15th - 16th November featuring renowned artists on the continent. 

Conference sessions will take place on the 17th - 19th November. Discussions will include: Conversations on the unused tax reserves; Impact of governance on philanthropy on the Continent; A spotlight session on the Role of Philanthropy post 2015; Improving the performance of Civil Society Organisations through self regulation best practice; Insights on how policies, strategies and practical frameworks on  inclusive philanthropy are impacting Africa's development.

There will be wealth of information shared by philanthropy thought leaders through case studies, expert presentations, plenary and breakaway sessions on innovative trends and best practice on the continent and beyond.

Participating individuals, institutions and governments will be able to link their contributions to broader social impact and their role in defining new narratives for African Philanthropy. Session outcomes will include model building; skills transfer on fundraising, social media and communications; sharing of resources by institutions and individuals on the place of Philanthropy in Africa's economies.

The assembly will culminate in the Second AGN African Philanthropy Award gala event where nominees will be recognized and celebrated for their outstanding contributions to philanthropy on the Continent.
